New Aylesbury Routes

From the 5th May, we will begin operating routes 19 and 145 commercially in and around Aylesbury. More details below:

Route 19

Route 19 will operate every 10 minutes from Aylesbury Bus Station to Stoke Mandeville Hospital via Oxford Road, Prebendal Avenue, Church Square and Ellen Road. The route will also operate on Sundays. The route has a PVR of five midi-buses. The three Optare Solos currently used on the Arla Shuttle Service will be used on this route with other buses. Route 19 is in competition with Star Travel routes 11 and 11A and Arriva's route 9.

Route 145

Route 145 will operate every 30 minutes from Haddenham and Thame Parkway to Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Stone, Aylesbury and the Bicester Road. The route has a PVR of three single decker buses. The route will operate Monday to Saturday only.

Due to the start of route 19 the three Optare Solos currently used on the Arla Shuttle Service will be used on this route with other buses. This means that the two brand new Enviro200s for the Arla Shuttle Service are due to arrive shortly to take over the route.

Changes to services in Norwich

As mentioned in previous posts, we will be taking over routes 41, 42, 43 and 51 from NorwichBus and renumbered route 41 as route 6 and route 51 as route 55. We also said that we would be taking over the rest of the Purple Line routes from FirstNorwich. Today we take over these routes despite the contracts beginning yesterday but not many services operated on Easter Day.

Route 6

Route 6 is operated from our brand new Great Yarmouth depot between Great Yarmouth, Potter Heigham and North Walsham. It operates every 30 minutes with a PVR of six single deckers. For the route we have brought Optare Tempos 300-6 YJ60 KAA/E/O/U/X, KBE/F with 306 YJ60 KBF acting as a spare.

Purple Line 37

Purple Line 37 is operated from our Norwich depot between Mulbarton, Long Stratton, Norwich, Aylsham Road, Hellesdon and Horsford. It operates every 30 minutes with a PVR of seven double deckers. Route 42

Route 42 is operated from our Norwich depot and operates between Norwich, Felthorpe and Reepham at a frequency of every two hours. For the route we have brought 208 YJ62 FFB. When we first brought 208 it was used on route 10 between Norwich and Great Yarmouth via Acle.

Latest News

On Sunday, there will be a few service alterations in the Norwich area with us taking over routes 6, 42, 43 and 55 from NorwichBus. Adding to that we will also be taking over the rest of the Purple Line services from FirstNorwich. There will be changes to most Purple Line services as stated below;

Purple Line 36: This service will be added on to Purple Line 37 and therefore will be withdrawn.

Purple Line 36B: Service Withdrawn

Purple Line 37: There will be changes to the route and the service has been extended at either end as this route has been merged with Purple Line 36. The route is now as follows: Mulbarton, Long Stratton, Norwich, Aylsham Road, Hellesdon and Horsford. Purple Line 37 will operate every 30 minutes.

Purple Line 37B: Service Withdrawn

Purple Line 38: This route has been merged with Purple Line 38A. The route will now operate as follows: Norwich, Alysham Road, Airport Industrial Estate and Ives Road. The route will operate every 30 minutes.

Purple Line 38A: This service has been merged to make 'new' Purple Line 38.

Purple Line 39: No changes to service

In other news, our brand new Great Yarmouth depot will be opening on the 20th of April with new route 6 being operated from it and the operation of route 10 (Norwich - Acle - Great Yarmouth) transferring to the new depot along with the buses operating the route. Demonstrator L1 SK63 GAA will also transfer to the new Great Yarmouth depot but will be returned to Wrightbus on the 30th of April.

We are currently planning on expanding route 10 (Norwich - Acle - Great Yarmouth) to Lowestoft as many passengers of the route and passengers of rival services say that they might consider or would use route 10 if it continued to Lowestoft. We are also thinking of trialling double deckers on route 10 as some journeys can become quite full and with the extension of the route being planned more capacity maybe needed.

We will be launching more routes in Aylesbury too with in the coming weeks. These routes still needed to be confirmed and registered with VOSA. We will display more information here when we have it.

Changes at Aylesbury

From Monday, we will be operating the Arla shuttle service between the Arla factory just outside of Aylesbury near Aston Clinton into Aylesbury. The Arla shuttle requires two buses to keep the frequency at every 15 minutes. Optare Solos 115-7 YJ54 UBP/R/T have recently joined the fleet at Aylesbury and will operate the route until two brand new Enviro200s arrive. The Optare Solos will then move onto Aylesbury town routes.

We will soon be making changes to our route 150 from Aylesbury to Milton Keynes. The commercially operated journeys will be withdrawn but the contracted journeys will continue with route 150 now operating every hour between Monday and Saturday. The route 150 timetable on a Sunday will be unchanged.

In place of the commercial route 150 journeys, we will be operated express route 100 to Milton Keynes from Aylesbury via the Wing Bypass.  New route 100 will miss out Leighton Buzzard. It will also operate every hour Monday to Saturday with no Sunday service. Three buses will be used on route 100.

Route 100 and 150 means that there will still be a bus leaving every 30 minutes to Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. Due to these changes four of the route 150 Optare Versas will have there branding removed. Three of those will then be allocated to express route 100.
